The Section on Teaching and Learning of Sociology focuses on undergraduate teaching concerns. The Section publishes a newsletter and offers a full program of sessions and roundtables on Section Day during the ASA Annual Meeting.
Teaching Sociology, ASA's quarterly journal, showcases scholarly and practical articles on the teaching process. ASA members may select this publication on their dues renewal notice. Non-members and institutions may also subscribe. The ASA Annual Meeting kicks off with a chair conference which often focuses on issues in higher education. The meeting includes over two dozen workshops on teaching specific courses, including “Teaching Introductory Sociology for the First Time,” and on other topics in higher education (e.g., service learning, outcome assessment). The DGS conference focuses on graduate education issues. Of course the exhibit area will bring you up to date with the latest books and software for teaching.
