Courses

Call for Submissions

Courses are half- or full-day opportunities for sociologists to gain new skills and knowledge. Topics and content should reflect the training sociologists need and seek. Courses on all topics are welcome. When possible and appropriate, relating a course to the Annual Meeting theme is encouraged.

Because this is a training experience, the course description should include specific learning goals/objectives. ASA recommends a mixture of active learning, small groups, hands-on exercises, and lectures. Use of universal design is expected.

Attendees and Presenters must register for the Annual Meeting in addition to registering for the course. Registration fees for courses will be determined by ASA in conjunction with course organizer(s). There must be a minimum of 10 pre-registrants for the course to be held.

Courses will held on Friday, August 9, 2024 and may be half-day (8:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m. or 1:00 p.m.-5:00 p.m.) or full-day offerings. Please schedule an open hour for lunch for full-day courses; everyone is on their own for lunch. Full-day courses must finish no later than 5:00 p.m.
