The Value of Sociology Student Video Contest

As part of ASA’s Value of Sociology Initiative, we asked high school, undergraduate, and graduate students to create videos for Tik Tok or Instagram. We received lots of great submissions from students sharing samples of something they learned in a sociology class that has been meaningful to them. We received lots of great submissions from students describing why their sociology class was meaningful and how it helped them better understand our world and themselves.

Our judges found the following videos stood out among the submissions and have selected them as the winners of this contest:

  • High School Student: Tariq Lawal, Homeschooled (view video)
  • Undergraduate Student: Saifa Dewinugroho, Sebelas Maret University (view video)
  • Graduate Student: Aigné Taylor, University of Texas at Austin (view video)

Thank you to all those who submitted videos that help illustrate the value of sociology!
