ASA is committed to scholarly exchange and wide dissemination of sociological knowledge. We provide many outlets for publication and provide professional development resources to support our members’ publishing efforts.

Journals

ASA publishes 13 scholarly journals, including general interest journals, such as the American Sociological Review, and those focused on specialized areas of knowledge, such as the Journal of Health and Social Behavior. Two of our journals, Journal of World-Systems Research and Socius: Sociological Research for a Dynamic World, are open access.

Access Journals

Ten of ASA’s journals are freely accessible to ASA members. All of our journals are also accessible through purchased subscriptions.

Contexts

We encourage anyone interested in sociological trends, social change, and the implications of sociological knowledge for policy and public debate to read Contexts, ASA’s magazine that makes cutting-edge social research accessible to general readers.

Rose Series in Sociology

Books in ASA’s Rose Series in Sociology are designed to offer synthetic analyses of specific substantive areas in sociology, challenging prevailing paradigms and offering fresh views of enduring controversies.

Member News & Notes

The e-newsletter, which current ASA members receive six times a year, has quick links to new member-only content such as important news, professional development opportunities, upcoming deadlines, awards, funding, call for papers, obituaries, and more.

Footnotes

Footnotes is ASA’s member magazine, which showcases sociologists’ perspectives on relevant and topical themes, and includes information related to ASA and the discipline of sociology.
