Disciplinary DEI

ASA is committed to working toward a more diverse, equitable, and inclusive discipline of sociology and provides several resources to members to support their efforts in this regard.

ASA collects and analyzes data about the discipline, including data that provide insight into demographic trends and other relevant patterns. ASA also offers a robust series of webinars to members, with many focused on DEI-related topics such as “Walking the Walk: Promoting the Inclusion and Empowerment of Sociologists at HBCUs and Hispanic Serving Institutions,” “Sociology as Activism,” and “Teaching About, Responding to, and Preventing Racism in the Criminal Justice System: What Role Can Sociology Play?”

If you are a teacher interested in anti-racism pedagogy or a department head seeking to address DEI issues, we have resources for you too.
